Rediscovering Value: Leading the 3-D Enterprise to Sustainable Success

Rediscovering Value: Leading the 3-D Enterprise to Sustainable Success Review

"To paraphrase a number of philosophers, the major challenge any executive or manager (and especially any CEO) faces is that his or her experience of the reality of the organization is not the same as the reality itself. How then does an executive: 1) develop a more accurate and complete representation of the organization, 2) identify critical business issues and improvement opportunities across this system, 3) design a way forward, and 4) install the feedback and measurement mechanisms necessary to ensure the organizational system delivers the performance and stays on course? This is where this book comes into its own."
-- Michael DeNoma president and CEO, Chinatrust Commercial Bank

"Every CEO (or executive managing a business) should read and understand Rediscovering Value if they want to effectively lead and manage their company. Leading a company without an understanding of the value and resource dimensions and how to manage them is like flying an airplane without a navigation system. The team at PDL has done an unbelievable job of describing the principles of an organization and how to effectively organize, lead, and manage the enterprise. Our company used PDL's systems approach to planning and managing and it was like turning on the lights in a dark room. Our people became process- and work-focused and morale improved dramatically as we moved away from the silo approach of running a business. Rediscovering Value is a must-read for any executive."
-- Steve Hassenfelt CEO, Granville Capital, Inc.

From author of the acclaimed Improving Performance, an exploration of the concept of Value Management and technology, comes the next step resource that introduces the transformation model. Rediscovering Value gives a preliminary description of the SOE phase, and covers the dimensions of the model. The book dissects each phase of the model, and describes what is accomplished along each dimension, the criteria to reach the next phase, and the key challenges of each phase (Stabilize, Optimize, Exploit in detail). It lays out the success factors for effective process design, improvement, and management.

Living Values Activities for Children Ages 3-7 (Living Values)

Living Values Activities for Children Ages 3-7 (Living Values) Review

As pervasive violence shatters our nation, the call for values echoes through headlines and school hallways as educators, parents and children become increasingly concerned and affected.

The Living Values series offers a variety of experiential activities for teachers and parents to help them teach children and young adults to develop twelve critical social values: cooperation, freedom, happiness, honesty, humility, love, peace, respect, responsibility, simplicity, tolerance and unity. In each book, these twelve values are explored using age-appropriate lessons that incorporate group discussions, reading, quiet reflection time, songs, artwork and action-oriented activities.

These lessons are already in use in more than 1,000 locations in sixty-two countries. Pilot results indicate that students are enthusiastic and teachers report a decrease in aggressive behavior and more motivated students. The Living Values Educational Program was born when twenty educators from around the world gathered at UNICEF Headquarters in New York in 1996 to discuss the needs of children and how to better prepare students for lifelong success. These global educators identified the curriculum and the program was ready for piloting in February of 1997.

Faith Conversations for Families: An Easy Way to Talk with Your Kids About Prayer, Morals, Values, Serving Others and More! (HomeLight)

Faith Conversations for Families: An Easy Way to Talk with Your Kids About Prayer, Morals, Values, Serving Others and More! (HomeLight) Review

Most Christian parents know that the best way to leave a God-honoring legacy to their family is to nurture their children's faith...but many don't know where to start! This new resource from Jim Burns, founder of HomeWord, will equip parents to start important conversations with their kids- family time with an eternal impact. Faith Conversations for Families makes it easy to invite God into quality family time. Each section of the book outlines an easy-to-follow dialog, which is flexible for children of different age groups. In addition, suggested activities and exercises make spiritual formation adaptable for kids with varying learning styles. The six family friendly topics included in this book are:
  • Who is Jesus and Why it Matters- Help parents talk with their kids about why His  life, death and resurrection are so important.
  • What Prayer Is All About- Parents can introduce vibrant conversation with God into their family's time together
  • What It Means to Be Christian- Parents can lead their kids toward a faith commitment and spiritual growth, through open communication and exciting biblical expression.
  • A Strong Family- Parents can teach, guide and strengthen healthy bonds within the family
  • Loving and Serving Others- Parents can talk with their children about servant leadership and self-sacrifice and be challenged to serve in and outside of their home
  • Building Morals and Values- Parents can help their kids discern and navigate cultural influences that run contrary to a biblical worldview
In the heart of every Christian parent is a desire to help their children grow spiritually. Faith Conversations for Families helps parents make that desire a beautiful reality.

The 2009-2014 World Outlook for Household Liquid Chlorine and Other Inorganic Bleaching Compounds (sodium Hypochlorite, Etc., 7 Percent or More ... Oxidizing Value, 100 Percent Cl Equivalent)

The 2009-2014 World Outlook for Household Liquid Chlorine and Other Inorganic Bleaching Compounds (sodium Hypochlorite, Etc., 7 Percent or More ... Oxidizing Value, 100 Percent Cl Equivalent) Review

This econometric study covers the world outlook for household liquid chlorine and other inorganic bleaching compounds (sodium hypochlorite, etc., 7 percent or more available chlorine or equivalent oxidizing value, 100 percent Cl equivalent) across more than 200 countries. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-à-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved. This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the 230 countries of the world). This study gives, however, my estimates for the worldwide latent demand, or the P.I.E., for household liquid chlorine and other inorganic bleaching compounds (sodium hypochlorite, etc., 7 percent or more available chlorine or equivalent oxidizing value, 100 percent Cl equivalent). It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided across the world's regional and national markets. For each country, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time (positive or negative growth). In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on international strategic planning at graduate schools of business.
